I’ve experienced these dogsled expeditions numerous times in the past as they create the perfect environment for adventure and photography. They generally consist of numerous hours to numerous days in the High Arctic. On this particular day, I embarked on a journey through Bolterdalen Valley with custom made sleds and Greenland Huskies.

The crisp air and freezing temperatures made a perfect environment for these hard working huskies known for their strength and endurance. When preparing the sled and equipment for the run, you can see and hear the excitement in these huskies as they jump and howl.
The husky’s endurance was much needed in this snow and ice-covered rugged terrain, which often consisted of hills and inclines. Svalbard’s overall terrain consists of glaciers, tundra, ice-covered fjords and permafrost. It would not be out of the ordinary to see these sled dogs traveling in any one of these environments.
All for One
When traveling by dogsled, it’s essential to be aware of extreme weather conditions, potential injury to the dogs/passengers, fatigue and becoming lost or stranded.
What sets these incredible dogs apart is their love for work. Greenland Huskies thrive on the challenge of labor and are happiest when working in a team environment.
This expedition capitalizes on the point where landscape, adventure, animals and Mother Nature come together as one.
